About this stay

Sanctuary is currently provided in the Nave, replacing the Bell tent that was previously used. The medieval church is divided by an 18th-century wall to create a school room. Behind the church are the remains of a cock-fighting pit. The village is near the source of the River Monnow, and above the village is the Black Hill, the setting for Bruce Chatwin's novel 'On the Black Hill'. Pilgrims can use the campsite facilities next door to the church, including a shop and pizzeria on Fridays. The Bull's Head pub down the lane is one of the last unspoiled drover's inns in England, recently included in the Michelin Guide. Seasonal: June to August. Capacity: 12 pilgrims max. Suggested donation: £22.
